Samos Memorial 2014

A note from Master Koardan

A special event was held at Ko-Ro-Ba, the city of morning light and home to so many fine dancers and events.  A special exhibition of Gorean Dance in August tried to honor the memory of Master Samos, a patron of Gorean Dance who inspired so many dancers with his words.  Not just of advice, but of encouragement.  I have met many dancers who have stopped due to discouragement, but many more who dance yet to this day because of his words.

Master Koardan
As a free man new to dance I remember the day his passing was announced.   Dancers immediately gathered to honor him and to provide mutual support.  His love Kajira, Mily, has also served the community of dance with her commentary and notes, and has always stood for quality and sharing.  I am grateful also for all she has done, as well as those amazing teachers of dance in every school.

I am sad that I heard the words of Master Samos only from records instead of live.  But who among us has not been inspired by his legacy?  We need such heroes in any endeavor.

Another note

See Kama and Liriel's fine video of the event.   Dabbling in moving sketches, I can well appreciate the labor and artistry of such work.

Today we honor his memory, and pay homage to the great things he did to further the Gorean Dance.
*points to the box* this is the soapbox, He was known to say He used to speak of the dancers, I will let him have the better seat to enjoy the girls...

Ivancarlo - Master of Ceramonies

First - Tersa and Elli

Tersa (tersa vella) is owned by Deka Ansar Second Sword of Ko-ro-ba and Elli (elli letov) is owned by Harm Gullick builder of Ko-ro-Ba they will be Dancing to LIndsey Stirling - Phantom of the Opera.

Ivancarlo Landar: They each had this to say about why they wished to dance in this event

Ivancarlo Landar: (elli)
I didn't know Master Samos as well as i would have liked, but he reviewed me a number of times when i started dancing and his reviews for me were invaluable. My current dancing still follows the advice he gave me in the reviews and at least two of his reviews kept me dancing after i had been totally crushed by judges. So i dance to day to honor his memory and all he's done for me as a dancer.

Ivancarlo Landar: (tersa)
"Master is the type of man that was the flame and us dancers were the moths. You wanted his attention, and you hoped it was positive attention. Sometimes when he wasn't so impressed, he'd let you know but you were still thankful that he gave you his attentions. You might of fussed n cussed a bit, but you still were thankful and craved that positive attention even more. mily asked me for a reason as to why i dance today and i really kinda thought it an obvious answer... who wouldn't want to dance for Master Samos? she made me answer it anyways though! i was Master Samos's "Doris Day of Gor", a nickname that i fussed n cussed at him about on more than one occasion... Always respectfully and fun-loving though, he was a gorean Master after all, he wouldnt of allowed me to be anything but a slave in his presence, and y'know, us girls LOVEEEEEE that. so why do i dance today? because its for him and i loved my interactions with him."

Elli Letov's lithesome arms fling out to either side in splendid synchronism, both presenting subtle curves that shimmy and twist for His enjoyment. Cascading waves of light and dark fly around exuberant faces as they move energetically across the pit, both absolutely delighted to be able to dance their love and respect for Him.

Tersa Vella in a flutter of twirls and swirls joyous laughter lifts up to Him as ringlets of snowy white and sinful obsidian sway around soft feminine curves. Lifts one hand to the heavens as the other tucks in, they cut loose as if in a swirling fast tango danced with Him. As abruptly as it begins, they pose, perfectly, just for Him. With breasts heaving and slave beats racing they breathlessly whisper, …

Tersa Vella: "We're still dancing, Master."
Elli Letov: "We're still dancing, Master."

Second - Chara and Mick

Chara (sunflower florian) is Owned by Vulken Foxclaw of City of Olni and Mick (Mick Young) is owned by Dusty Irelund who is currently travelling. They will be dancing to Faun - Lupercalia.

Ivancarlo Landar: Mick kindly stood in at very short notice when chara's original partner Cal had to pull out due to rl. This is his first public dance. The dance is written by Chara and Cal

Ivancarlo Landar: Chara had this to say about wishing to dance in the event
"I have heard alot about Master Samos and wished that I had known him ..he seemed to be a major part of every dancer in Gor and would hope that I can live up to his expectations of a good dancer."

Mick (mickyoung Resident) As if, a silent command had been given, the battle field left silent and dark, he turns back home reluctant with strong beating wings. Descending down towards the town with outstretched steel clad talons that rake against metal roof, he lands, his leg once cobbled, still ringed, finds it's familiar perch. He raises his head and wing, as if to salute this nights battle, then lowers his head to his tarnsman, and finds his beak once more bound and belted.

ℂɧαʀα (sunflower Florian): Tired fingers open stiffly releasing the fans to the floor ,head bowed mournfully drops to her knees in anguish. The dark begins to fade and hope seems to diminish with it ,Limply her body curls inwardly like a frightened child .Fingers curl like claws, tear at the purple flowers from her hair, trembling at her fate.

An ear to the ground listened ..footsteps?..could it be ?..was it ? " hopefully , her chin lifts towards the doorway a dark figure stood slumped against it Her heart fills with joy "Mine " he hoarsely whispered ...he was home .
La Kajira, lo kajirus

Third - Lady Marie and Rosa

Lady Marie (marieoh wycliffe) and Rosa (heida palianta) danced next to a song called Salwa.

Ivancarlo Landar: Lady Marie is High Scribe Vigo and enjoys dancing so much she has become part of the Judges Council. Wanting to know about the mechanics of dance she has been to Free women dance classes and attended slave classes learning so much about how hard the kajirae work to show their art. She enjoys dance of all kinds, loving to see a kajira express herself and show originality whilst remaining within the spirit of the books.

Ivancarlo Landar: Rosa – Mamba kajira - Has been owned by Lady Marie since May 5, 2014. Since she began dancing she has appreciated the support of all the judges and the dancers in her efforts to produce a good dance.

"We dance tonight to pay tribute to Master Samos we only know by reputation. We have heard many compliments and praise of him and we regret not having met him hoping that when he looks down at us from his big cloud , he will appreciate our dance. We are happy and honored to dance for him specially to give him an emotional tribute but also for all those who have marked hearts from him."

Rosa (heida Palianta): Rosa moves her feet rhythmically dancing in the pit. The movement of her feet in the sand hollow small furrows and moves across the sand at a fast pace, throwing a soft look to the Sayedda blankly watching her dance She hears the words of the Sayedda " Decidedly you will never be a dancing kajira." The tinkling bells of her mixes with the sound of drums as her hands come alive in front of her body and face imitating drummers.
Lady Marie (MarieOh Wycliffe): In soft and graceful gestures, Sayedda and Rosa dance on the sands, the mamba following the Sayedda's movements closely.

The Sayedda smiled softly behind her veil a sigh of satisfaction as their arms and body move around each other gently on the sand in the same patterns..

They swing their arms rhythmically gently moving dress and silks as they dance.

Sayedda watches the mamba fall as she collapses, breathless on the sand - finally - as a kajira.

Fourth - Snow, Kellan, and Maia

Snow (snow Mistwood) is owned by Master Koardan of Port Haifa, Kellan (Kelika Dubrovna)is owned by Master Krev Anvindr and Maia (Fionna Carter) of Master Nevar Lobo of Vigo. They will be dancing to The bonny swans by Lorenna McKinnit

Ivancarlo Landar: Snow said "This beast never had the opportunity to dance before Master Samos but attended many dances in which he reviewed and must say he inspired this one to take a leap of faith "into the sands" so to speak. I have learned that music can soothe the savage beast and dance is meant to entice the fires from the depths of a slave. Through reading Master Samos reviews of each dancer, I have come to understand a slave's dance is the truest form of communicating and expressing her heart, need, and desire. Dance can allow a slave to bring out her beauty, her femininity and her sexuality and most of all, her vulnerability, as all is exposed."

Ivancarlo Landar: Kellan said "While I never met Master Samos as his passing was before my time, I have read everything given to me that he wrote. It was one of the first things I received in coming into Gorean dance, and...it sparked me. I struggled for some time in learning faction but it was my goal and through his guidance in words and others I have been able to do it now. He stretched us as dancers to understand and challenge ourselves and in that, I am truly grateful. We dance in celebration of emotions to please the Free, to be transparent as slaves and to know ourselves. I am blessed to be able to be called a dancer amongst my peers. Thank you Master Samos for your encouragement. "

Ivancarlo Landar: Maia said " It was unfortunate that during the time Master Samos was so active in the dance community was the time that I took a break from SL. In a way I envy the dancers that had a chance to speak with him and listen to his words of wisdom, I have read many of his reviews out of curiosity and I guess its his letter of the 1/11/11 that kind of put things into perspective that dance is not all about winning or being the best its about dancing with the absolute purity of heart. To me this is my chance to be able to dance for him just once be it with two of the best dancers I know and I hope to think he is looking down on me whispering the words of encouragement "Keep Dancing, Maia"

Maia (fionna Carter) giggles softly "Come on, you know you want to dance with us really". She appears to wink as sparkling pools glimpse over at the solid form. Suddenly she melts down to bended knees the rounded curve of heart shape bottom almost breaking the water's surface. A roll of supple hips and then she floats back up onto the tips of her toes. A chuckle escapes parted lips as she feels the dripping tendrils of fabric clinging to heated flesh.

ﻜησѡ (Snow Mistwood) breathes in deeply, circling, full hips pulse as if with an unwavering desire, reverberating a dancer’s passion with each sharp thrust. Lush lips part, a wet pink tongue slips out to trace over the plump flesh and a call ripples over vocal chords, “Come lovely! Come dance with us!”

Maia (fionna Carter) plants feet wide as sensuous form begins to roll with unbridled need, a soft groan escapes collared throat. “How can you not dance! You have to dance!”.
ﻜησѡ (Snow Mistwood) brings hands to chest, a feverous heartbeat resounding fervently as if it were her voice, “Dance, still beauty! You must dance!”

Kellan (Kelika Dubrovna)'s hips struggle and push against the stoney exterior as they begin to sway, allowing her to come to life as she steps off the pedestal. White silks begin to tickle around her form as languid arms start to wave as if shaking off the fear and doubt and feeling the uncompromising fire burn inside once more.

Fifth - Perle, Ebi, Kira, and Orla

Ebi (ebony Breda)is owned by the City of Ko-ro-ba, Perle (raven Daxeline) is owned by Sheik Al Oisans, Kira (kira swordthain) is owned by Kyros Slade and ÕяιÀ (0subira) is owned by Scholar, of the Kataii, he is Outrider. They will be dancing to bird - dead can dance.
Ivancarlo Landar: Samos said to perle, 'I love to see Goreans interacting, like a community, based on ongoing, well-developed personalities and situations. One of the most delicious is your little feud with ebony. I sense it is in good fun, but also a real challenge back and forth between two of the best dancers in all of Gor.' So in honour of Samos, perle and ebi have put aside their differences and will now perform a Panther Dance for the entertainment of the Free.

Ivancarlo Landar: ebi said, "The reason we wish to dance is the sheer love of Master Samos, who picked us up and kicked us back into the dance pit when we thought about giving up. We grieve still, we talk of him, we will never forget him. As ebi says 'He was da man'”

Ivancarlo Landar: Kira said, "Everyday, I look at the words of Master Samos..the ones where he encourages us to dance on. I dance, today. to honor that command and hope the he truly is looking down on the dance community with a smile. *looks up* "I promise, Master, I have not turned Panther! *grins*. "

Ivancarlo Landar: Orla said "I am dancing because it is a wonderful form of expression as a kajira, also for the joy of my Master too."

Raven Daxeline: Perle turns to ebi and stands, watching the Schendi larl play panther. She bites her lip, as though trying to stay calm. "You called the man we captured, Master...just last night. The degradation stripe was more of a trim and you asked him if he would mind." She dances as though to calm her temper, breathing deeply as kira and oria speak to the needy panther.

Kira (Kira Swordthain): "Degradation stripes are meant to be degrading”

ÕяιÀ (0Subira Resident): "Degradation stripes are meant to be degrading”!!!!!!!!

ebony Breda stops dead in her tracks, faces perle, trembling, dark facial features contorted in primitive fury… she shrieks, voice cracking in rage: “YOU! You find fault in everything I do! And you repay my adoration with cruel insults and ugly leathers and cold forest nights! Why not just smack my ass and send me away! Maybe you want me to go away! Maybe I will!“ She reaches behind and slaps her own bottomcheek HARD! *SMACKKKK!*

Raven Daxeline: Body tenses in barely concealed anger, long fingers curling into a fist then reaching to pull at raven hair, appearing close to fighting. Toned flesh ripples with each movement that she makes, feet striking the ground. She looks to kira and oria as if aware they share the same thoughts. "Every day...every day it is the same!" She sneers at ebi, mimicking her. "Maybe you want me to go away! Maybe I will!"

ebony Breda stands, trembling, dainty dark fists balled up, plump lips quivering, chubby bottomcheeks visibly clinching and unclinching beneath the leather… at last she leaps at perle, slapping at the pretty porcelain face and breasts, yanking handfuls of silky black hair… snarling, screaming and crying hysterically – “Sleen! I hate you! I hate this forest! I want to go back to the men!”

ÕяιÀ (0Subira Resident): “The men have tracked us!”   “We must run!”

Sixth - Lala, Trejah, and Sugar

Lala (lala roussel) and Sugar (sugardc.pexie) are owned by Paladin Falconer, Sword of Ko-ro-ba, Trejah (tracy.arlington) is owned by Jarl Bull Python of Ravenscar who started out in the southern regions of Gor but found a home in the North. They will be dancing to Arabic Chill out music a dance called snake dance.

Ivancarlo Landar: They had the following to say about why they wished to dance in this event...

Ivancarlo Landar: "Lala is honored to be celebrating the memory of Master Samos on this day. The dance found a home in the belly of this girl while the hunger to please the Free flows in her veins. Lala will be forever grateful to her Master for being allowed to express the loves, wishes, whimsies and desires through dance. Thank You, Master, for the privilege to keep doing so."

Ivancarlo Landar: "Winning a dance competition is good, but a memorable dance is what will stand out." This was said to Lala by Master Samos… His reviews and opinions were revered as much by many as the very Man himself; and so with each performance, Lala strives to make it as memorable as possible.”

Ivancarlo Landar: "When Trejah was asked why dance? her answer is simple..."i love everything about it. It allows a fountain of life to spring up each time a foot touches the sands...it is the medicine, the refuge and inspiration in times of need." Trejah did not have the pleasure of knowing Master Samos personally, but is able to see and hear his words through the memories of each life He touched and motivated."

Ivancarlo Landar: "Sugar has graciously agreed to be a willing participant. Playing the role of charmer, Sugar's assistance has been crucial in this performance and is to use Lala’s word, fantabulous!"

Bulls trejah (tracy Arlington): A glare of defiance at what was going on she holds her position stubbornly, imagining the charmer laying down on the sands not able to move. Tempting thoughts pulling her one way, rhythmical beats in another, head moving side to side, weaving gracefully in motion squinting eyes watching the gorgeous green snake move.

lala (Lala Roussel) extends sweeping along the sands absorbing the warmth the grains give spurring the moves. Leaning toward one lounging form as if to strike, the jaded animal is pulled back by melodious dictum supplied by the instrument's summons. Hisses flow from a bound throat as insinuated maneuvers draw the reptile back into focus.

Bulls trejah (tracy Arlington): Continued resistance was futile at this point she was under a slightly suspicious spell. In the basket on a silent command but not before hissing loudly hoping to startle the charmer right off her feet at the very least. If a snake could smile this one would be right now after viewing the feisty side of the green beauty as the beast hisses at last. Ebony snake feeling a little pride at the sight and can rest well tonight as she coils over for slumber.

lala (Lala Roussel) 's fluctuation slows with the waning notes. Figures involuntarily lower within the woven depths by commanding tones of the musician's flute lulling viperous snakes into a harmless slumber. Calming air brings about peaceful hibernation until the next song's interdiction..."we dance on, Master...la kajira"

Seventh - Domi and Sugar

Domi (dominque Rayna) is owned by Hawksmist Resident of Gorean Falls, and sugar rush (novaleigh freng) is the property of the House of Marco kennels in Vigo. They will be dancing to a mix of Nostalgia and Desire by Yanni

Ivancarlo Landar: "Domi and sugar rush are the bestest of friends! They've been causing trouble around Gor together for a while now. Both of them are huge supporters of dance. Although Domi didn't know Samos well and Sugar Rush came along after his passing, they know what a strong voice he had in the dance community, and how much he really wanted to inspire and uplift dancers. Domi says it's impossible not to fall in love with someone like that, and sugar rush wishes she could have met such a wonderful man. The girls dance today to honor his memory, and hope their dance is enjoyed by all today."

Nova (Novaleigh Freng) grins, hips swaying left and right as hands snake through the air. Toes flex as knees bend, body bouncing playfully in time with the other girl. "See? It's fun! And Master will love it!" She chimes, turning to give a shimmy of rounded butt as she winks to her sister.

Domi (Dominque Rayna) chokes back a sob as visions of Him, of what could have been, crash over her. A growl, so soft as if to hide the rage within a soft soul, vibrates from ruby lips. Soft, supple hands reach out as though to frame His face. Eyes like hers glistening with unshed tears, hands wrapping around blood colored tendrils as a lithe form spins, trying desperately to run from the memories of His love and strength. His complete possession of this slut.

Nova (Novaleigh Freng) falls to knees in exhaustion and frustration, glance flickering to her chain sister as the other slave collapses, despair clouding a usually bright expression. The girl lets out a huff, a pout settling on full lips as arms cradle her head.

Domi (Dominque Rayna) hears a tree branch break as a somber head darts up and eyes widen, tears stop and a sudden gasp is heard before He speaks " Ok where were we girls before those silly panthers had their exercise for the day? Oh yes it is time to dance chop chop" With much joy and excitement seen in their responding actions. Both girls jump up quickly to move to His command "we dance on Master". ~ la kajira ~

Eighth - Nym and Mily

Nym (nymphie silvershade) is owned by Erik Naverre of City of Vigo and Mily (mily sandalwood) is owned by Ivancarlo Landar, a happy Scribe of Ko-ro-ba. They will be dancing to Fase - Muero si te pierdo (Piano).

Ivancarlo Landar: Nym said, "Nym is my name and i humbly thank you for allowing me to participate in such a special event. I am honored to dance to the memory of pioneer in SL Gorean Dance. To a Man that clearly had his heart in what he taught as well as in the dancers that came to him. This dance is a testimony to the life of a Man that was clearly lived with honor, intelligence, and comfort. So, i am one of those new dancers ... just arrived in the past year. It is my sincere hope that Master Samos can smile, look down and be proud of His slave, Mily and i as we do a tandem in his honor. Thank you to my Master who always encourages and supports me."

Ivancarlo Landar: Mily said, “When Master Samos passed away I felt a despair that I didn't think I knew was possible. I had lost my adored Owner and the dance world had lost their correspondent who was so involved with gorean dance, I wondered how would it be possible for faction dancing to remain alive. I questioned so many things. I wasn't sure it would be possible to ever move forward.
Here we are 3 years on and I have learnt that dancers heard his words. Even now 3 years on, His words holds meaning for new dancers. I look around and see new and old dancers coming forth to celebrate His memory and I see and feel hope.

He changed me changed everything I felt about submission and I know now, that looking forward He also changed how I as a slave would respond to a true gorean owner.

I will always miss Him. He is such a huge foot print in my soul. However thanks to Him i DO have the ability to continue dancing and I have recently learnt I also have that deep submission in me still. For that, I feel nothing but joy and gratefulness that i am allowed to experience this again.

I dance today to celebrate what was a truly amazing man. I dance today to signal to the future that faction dancing is alive and that I am alive still and I am grateful for all my friends and fellow dancers, to the Free who gives so much to gorean dance, to all who keeps his memory alive, and to my Owner who showed me life goes on and to have faith in people and what a wonderful thing that is.

nym (Nymphie Silvershade): Quick steps into the dance as long back arches to display ripe bouncing breasts creating a warm stir within her slave belly. Hips rotating around invitingly as if she understood dancing comes from the heart. Pink lips curl into a satisfied smile as if she were in her own world. Manicured toes point into the floor as hips shimmy delightfully.

Alive with the spirit of dance, turning as round hips shake with exploring arms running up and down. Moves back and forth with her whole soul and being as if to express 'This is me'!

Mily Sandalwood: A smile shows on the dancer’s face, accompanied with an approving nod. A sudden twirl of movement happens as the girl steps backward twirling around letting the silken ribbons brush round the temptingly rounded arse, before she seems to fade back into the picture. The trace of giggles appears to disappear with the ghostly form of the dancer as she once again melts into the stillness of the painting, frozen in time, displayed as the dancer she once was.

nym (Nymphie Silvershade): Looks up towards the painting her expression showing the question " was it all a dream?"
Mily Sandalwood: A shadow blows and darkens the painting and for a brief moment it appears as if the expression changes in the eyes of the once again still dancer and one could almost hear a soft whisper of words lingering in the silence, "Dance every dance for Him as if it is your last kajira."
