Nevar's Music Challenge
August 15, 2015 - Nevar’s Music Challenge 2015
Venue: School of Gorean Dance / Dance Gardens of Gor
Theme: Music Challenge - Each dancer is given the piece of music which cannot be altered. This year we dug deeper into the music vault and pulled out a challenging musical piece from a popular Historical Drama. I want to say thank you to Huntress Ame for doing a masterful edit with it.
MC: Nevar
DJ: Domi
Organizer: School of Gorean Dance
Sponsors: Trophy made by Huntress Ame of Fire Within and a gift card by [AtTire] donated by Dottir.
Dancers: Iris, Nela, Sarah Elisebeth, Beauty, Rosa, Aytan, Nadi and Snow
Koardan: I see the School of Gorean Dance and Dance Gardens of Gor has built a new venue. I like this design because it had more potential for sketches (photography). How did this design come about?
Nevar: Huntress Ame built this amazing dance venue for us... so thank you so much Huntress! She wished for something different with an organic feel.
Koardan: Yes - it is a lot better for photography as well, since the camera angles are better due to the open design . The lighting is good, and the backgrounds are good also. She did an amazing job.
Koardan: Nevar, why are you doing this music challenge?
Nevar: Last year during our Friday Workshop, I set a dance challenge to a group who attended. I challenged them to write a dance to a popular piece of music I had chosen. There was no theme for the dance but it had to be gorean in nature and the music was not to be edited in any way. I was totally blown away with the different interpretations of the emotions that the dancers felt from the song.
Nevar continues: This year we dug deeper into the music vault and pulled out a challenging musical piece from a popular Historical Drama. I want to say thank you to Huntress Ame for doing a masterful edit with it. I am sure this year we will be equally amazed by each of the dancers that took up this years challenge.
Koardan: Who accepted your challenge, Nevar?
Nevar: First was Iris who was trained as a dancer four years ago at the Gorean University. She is also a graduate of the Passionate Heart of Dance Academy Advanced Class, and is a co-founder of the Academy of Gorean Dance, where she happily mentors younger dancers. She is owned by Ebonaku Dragovar, and though she no longer roleplays in Gor, she continues to dance with his blessing and above all for his pleasure.
Iris prances in delicate cross-steps, feet pounding lightly upon the sands in their own rhythm as the melodic tune of a czehar joins with the drumbeat. Sculpted arms extend like the wings of a preening bird as hips continue their seductive motions, silken chalwar pants wafting with every step to caress her burnished skin.

Nevar: Our Next dancer was Nela! And I could not wait for this! Nela is owned by Azerbain and Juvana Grey and says, "This is sort of a challenge for me since it's the first time I have to work on a dance with the music chosen by another person. It somewhat disrupts the stages I go through when working on a dance, I tend to pick my storyline and type of dance before looking for a music to match it. I hope you all enjoy the dance. I am taking a risk today and performing a Pani dance."
Nela flexes her knees billowing the fans in the air, small socked feet barely dragging, the trailing hem of her korti swaying side to side, the garnet bottom as red as the blazing Lar-Torvis during daytime. A hint of a cryptic smile flashes upon bright ka-la-na lips as she unfolds exquisite fans, winnowing breeze shading the muggy hot air creeping through the sliding doors. Lifts fine fans masking her chalky face, brows arching lightly with a glimpse of a sparkle in her mysterious onyx eyes.

Nevar scratches at his chin and takes out his scroll, “Hmmm, our next dancer and smiles was Sarahelisebeth. Sarah came to us to participate in this challenge as one who loves to dance. This type of exhibition challenges her to look beyond being a slave or a free and concentrate solely on dance.”
Sarah Elisabeth Brenham peeks through the crack of the door at the audience that has gathered in the tavern. I lean back on my bare heels and turn to look at the girls who are with me. I notice that my fellow kajirae are all relaxing comfortably, as if they didn't have a care in the World. I shift and strain once again to peer at the people who were waiting to see us dance, shaking my head in disbelief.

Nevar looks around the arena recalling the next dancer, "Beauty was a barbarian, a slave and a dancer. She was abandoned by a Master due to unknown reasons. Yet it is nothing new, as she has always been alone and has danced alone. Since coming from earth, her only passion is dance, her canvas is her artwork.”
Beauty adorned with heavy red silk and gold, a hair piece resembles the Suitopi or sweet pea which means goodbye. Its meaning perfectly clear, gone are the brown rags she once wore in its place reds, browns and golds she would never wear. She was a contract woman, the name foreign to her as skirts rustle against the wood as she slides closer. Praying to Buddha for strength as control of faltering seizes shaky digits.

Nevar: “I could not wait to see what our next dancer had for us. Rosa is the property of Master Ember - Ubar of Asperiche. She is under the protection of Lady Marie. She dances with pride honoring her Master’s passion for the art of Gorean dance and for the majestic city of Asperiche which she serves. Rosa finds joy in dancing for the pleasure of the free. She can be seen in exhibitions throughout Gor. She also organizes the Asperiche "Songs of the Sands" dance competition and likes to encourage other dancers in her art.”
Rosa swings slowly on the sands. Her body sways and arms rise above her head while she bites her lips attempting to conceal the bitterness she experiences. The clatter of gold coins that surround her causes a slow burning of her belly. Her dark eyes flash slowly showing apprehension. Rosa seems lost in mysterious thoughts while her hands carelessly run through and play with her long ebony hair cascading over her shoulders and back.

Nevar: Okay! A little story about this next dancer... Aytan. When her Mistress heard this music she messaged me and said she was going to beat me with her whip because I made her cry with such a beautiful piece. Aytan is a recent graduate of the Vigo Dance Academy is currently collared to the Private Kennels of the House of Danitz. The one constant thing in her life as a slave has been her love to dance for the Free. This dance was dedicated to Dove, Chief Slaver of the House of Danitz.
Aytan’s crystalline tears brush radiant cheeks, lissome form weaves as if a long billed fleer soaring from the verdant oasis to the azure skies. Slender arms reach aloft, as sensual form floats wisp-like across the brilliant floor. Beautiful strains filled the girl’s soul as painted toes and slender feet kiss the fine fabric beneath. The spicy scent of incense swirls with the music, creating an intoxicating combination as erotic desires ignite within kajira belly.

Nevar: So next we take a trip with the Wagon People and get a dance from that fiery redhead, Nadi! Nadi loves dancing to please her Master and the Free. Having taken many classes and graduated from several schools, she is an instructor at Vigo Dance Academy and a long time member of the Dance Pit Raiders in which she is a co-captain. With permission of the Free she was excited to accept the challenge to dance at this event.
Nadi slips away from the fur to peer over her shoulder at the drunken Master passed out. The epitome of ice and fire, raises her arms to Lar Torvis feeling warm sunny kisses on comely bronze shoulders. Dips and spins uninhibited between the wagons. With deliberate steps, saunters away from the camp. Stoops and grabs clumps of grass somberly tossing the blades into the wind.

Nevar: Now we had one more dancer to go but I wanted to tell the audience a bit of this piece of music used for this challenge before we called her…
This music was a mix of the theme songs from the NetFlix original show Marco Polo. We intentionally made it challenging by using the different tempos to pull the emotions from the dances. So to hear it for the last time, we moved to our last dancer.
Nevar: The last dancer for this music challenge was Snow, owned by Koardan of Port Haifa, said this piece of music did not click for her right at first and she used a visualization technique Mily Sandalwood demonstrated in one her dance classes. As Snow listened to the music, she previewed dozens and dozens of oil paintings online. One painting of an ordinary girl standing before a mirror and the reflection of a ballerina looking back struck a chord with her and then she recalled a part of the tether dance scene from Explorers of Gor and had her music challenge dance.
Snow diverts her gaze away from the looking glass only to tilt a limber neck sheepishly peeking back at the reflection. Flexing backbone in a brazen manner she appears to admire her womanly shape silhouetted against the placid quicksilver. Gradually she slows, seemingly startled to see her body move as that of a slave.
