Snow's Table Belly Dance

This dance not only took first place at Venna in Feb 2013, but had the highest score ever to that date. Though I saw Snow's performance the previous month when I first met her, I missed her first performance of this dance. We recaptured it in June 2017.

I may update the music, but for now I wanted to share her dance - both as example of a well written dance but also some visual composition experiments in Machinima. I look forward to your feedback.
Filmed at Gorean Dance Oasis in Second Life. Stock music by TechSmith and Snow's dance mix is by Ishtar. The world of Gor is based on novels of John Norman.

Here's a bit of dance history for you.

Snow performed this Table belly dance at at contest at Venna in 2013.   I got around to filming it.

The dance is comprised of four animations ripped from Vista AO animations.  One challenge about this dance was you need to stay on the table, so that rules out some animations where the position moves far from center.

Other animations included the Sabre dance from Henmations, who are famous for their motion capture work.

The tavern music chose was to give the feel of an unpolished impromptu musical performance.   I took the liberty of adding the piano at the beginning to reflect the inner mind.

This dance was designed to fit into impromptu RP.  For example, on a whim I put a jewel in her belly button and command her to dance. That is kind of interaction we seek in good impromptu tavern dancing that will allow many to take an active part.

Let me know what you think about the use of the black background vs. the tavern setting.  I did that to allow people to focus on what's important - the dancer's words and motion.  But sometimes the other visual context is good too.
